Blood Distribution in Exercise... To get More Out of Exercise™ it's necessary to engineer a warm-up which stimulates neural and endocrine plexes in a specific sequence for the purpose of dilating blood vessels in the viscera, brain, and deep organs heightening oxygenation of the anatomical cavities in order of greatest blood volume. Also a higher metabolic rate is achieved by recruiting all tissues at Peak Metabolic Potential (PMP), not just muscle tissue.

Typically the opposite happens during exercise, there's a disproportionate increase in blood flow to active skeletal muscle - up to 90% of cardiac output. Muscle gets 800 times more oxygen than even the heart muscle itself. Note the relatively small increase to the myocardium below.

If cardiac output during quiet standing is at a value of 5900 ml/min, and during exercise is 24,000 ml/min:

Skeletal Muscle: quiet standing - 650 ml/min => during exercise - 20,850 ml/min = 600% increase
Heart : quiet standing - 250 ml/min => during exercise - 1000ml/min = 75% increase
Viscera: quiet standing - 3100 ml/min => during exercise - 600 ml/min = 80% decrease 


To wake up the entire body in order to get More Out of Exercise it's necessary to change the pattern of neural activity that normally occurs with the anticipation of exercise ie. the disportionate shift of blood flow to the muscles at the expense of the rest of the body. In addition to physical techniques, the routine also utilizes mental and emotional parameters.

It has been demonstrated that even the anticipation of exercise can increase blood flow to the muscles in some individuals. In other words, the neural activity caused by thoughts can trigger hormones and brain tranmitter molecules that stimulate blood flow in a certain direction. Consequently visualization is now used in sports to prepare the body for optimal performance. Needless to say the complexity of organizing our thoughts to stimulate the brain in a way that would increase blood supply to all the tissues as well as the brain itself, is impractical.  Effectiveness of visualization requires innovative techniques which support the integrative functions of the circulatory and neural systems.   

One example of visualization technique encorporated into Body'Fit™ centers attention on the Core Point in the lower belly.
