Thyroid Gland... Thyroxin (produced by the thyroid gland) is a key BMR-regulator which speeds up the metabolic activity of the body. The more thyroxin produced, the higher the BMR.
Many of the widespread effects of the thyroid gland hormone (growth and development, regulation of lipid metabolism, and absorption of carbohydrates) are secondary to the stimulation of O2 consumption (measureable after a latency period of several hours, and lasting 6 days or longer). Thyroid gland hormone increases the dissociation of oxygen from hemoglobin, and increases consumption of O2 in most tissues. It's therefore directly related to metabolic rate. Among the functions of the thyroid gland hormone is the conversion of carotene to Vitamin A, it speeds up reaction time in sports by exerting effects on the peripheral nervous system, and the thyroid gland hormone also speed up mentation, and is found in gray matter in numerous location in the cerebral cortex. Some of the effects of thyroid on the brain are probably secondary to increased responsiveness to catecholamines, with consequent increased activation of the reticular activating system. It can cause a slight increase in temperature which in turn activates the heat dissapating mechanism of the body, with peripheral resistance decreasing due to cutaneous vasodilation. As cardiac output is increased by the combined action of the thyroid hormone and catecholamines on the heart, pulse pressure and cardiac rate are increased and circulation time is shortened. The response to thyroid gland hormone in the heart resembles those of b-adrenergic receptors to adrenaline (whose action changes in the presence of adenosine from vaso constriction to vaso dilation. The thyroid gland hormone has been clinically shown to lower circulating cholesterol levels, only as a result of increasing metabolism. When metabolic rate is increased by thyroid gland hormone, nitrogen excretion is increased; if food intake does not increase, protein and fat stores are catabolized and weight is lost.
Body'Fit pH Fitness™ contributes to the metabolic effects of the thyroid gland in order to help Get More Out of Exercise™. Of particular importance is the ability of Body'Fit pH Fitness to increases cardiac output by opening up circulation to the deep organs, glands and tissues. It's designed to awaken endocrine centers in the five anatomical cavities in the optimal order for thyroid gland function, stimulating O2 consumption even further. For example, Body'Fit pH Fitness stimulates the endocrine plexes in the abdomen and chest releasing catacholamines prior to neurally stimulating the release of thyroid gland hormone.
Improvement in brain function is most noticeable when the thyroid gland is balanced in conjunction with the entire endocrine system. And when combined with restoration of acid base equilibrium in the body during exercise, Body'Fit pH Fitness serves to speed up mentation at any age.
