V02max Adaptation

V02max... is the maximum amount of oxygen in millilitres muscles can use in one minute per kilogram of body weight.

Numerous studies had shown that by working the large long muscles at an intensity that raises heart rate for at least 20 minutes three to four times a week, their VO2max can be gradually increased. Of course, prior to the emergence of Body'Fit pH Fitness™ exercise (short form... pHx™) it wasn't understood why the small muscles such as those in the wrist could not reach VO2max even at maximum heart rate. Body'Fit pHx™ therefore presents a vital evolution in injury prevention, and sports performance.

The physical limitations that restrict the rate at which energy can be released aerobically are dependent upon:

• the chemical ability of the muscular cellular tissue system to use oxygen in breaking down fuels
.

• the combined ability of cardiovascular and pulmonary systems to transport the oxygen to the muscle tissue.

A study by Saltin B, Rowell LB. concluded that it is the delivery of oxygen to active tissues that is the major limiting factor to VO2max. A study by Gollnick PD et al. showed a weak relationship between the body's ability to utilize the available oxygen and VO2max.

Fatigue is a factor that must be carefully monitored to prevent overtraining, therefore endurance training at a percentage of V02max is the route most coaches and athletes have usually chosen in the past.

The factors that make it possible to now radically improve on the rate at which energy can be released aerobically include:

•    rapid normalization of body pH in the blood and cellular fluid in 7 to 14 minutes via the respiratory system (instead of hours or days via the kidneys), combined with oxygenation of muscles in order of size and greatest blood volume, potentates the chemical ability of the muscular cellular tissue system to use oxygen in breaking down fuels

•    the building of the vascular capacity and oxygen reserves of the five deep organ groups with specialized engineering of circulation in order of greatest blood volume, combined with techniques for bring the ventilation/ perfusion (V/Q ratio) closer to a value of one in the lungs, potentates delivery of oxygen to small and large muscles throughout the body.

When the breathing-specific, movement-specific, and sequence specific pattern matches the needs of the body for homeostasis as heart rate increases, oxygen transport to both organ and muscle tissue is optimized at Peak Metabolic Potential (PMP), rendering competition for oxygen unnecessary at any degree of performance intensity, duration or speed.

Body'Fit pHx™ amounts to a 'new paradigm' advancement which allows the acceleration of V02max training in the small muscles of the wrist and ankle, provided all necessary design elements are adhered to. Whether done to improve sports dexterity or to relieve repetitive stress injury, it's of paramount importance to perform the 24 exercises in the pHx warm-up cool down workout series as indicated, rhythmically without stopping.
